Booker T. Washington Alumnus Kevin Lockett Named To Kansas State Football Hall Of Fame

Kevin Lockett graduated from Booker T. Washington in 1992, not only as one of the greatest wide receivers in school history, but he also excelled in academics. In addition to playing football, he was also a member of the baseball team. Kevin was inducted in the Booker T. Washington football Ring of Honor on February 7, 2020. He was also President of the National Honor Society and consistently on Booker T. Washington’s Honor Roll.

After graduating from Booker T. Washington, Kevin attended Kansas State University where he was an Athletic and Academic All-American. Kevin was the all-time leader in reception, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns from 1993 until 2014. Kevin amassed 217 receptions, 3032 yards, and twenty-six (26) touchdowns from 1993-1996. They were all broken by his son Tyler in 2014.

After graduating from Kansas State University in 1997, Kevin was drafted in the National Football League with pick number forty-seven (47) in the second round. Kevin played four (4) years for the Kansas City Chiefs, one (1) year for the Washington Commanders, one (1) year for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and one (1) year for the New York Jets.

After leaving football, Kevin held many high-level positions. He formerly held the position of Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operations Officer of the Kansas Bioscience Authority. The Kansas City Business Journal named him CFO of the year in 2015. Kevin also worked for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City Missouri., a $2 billion foundation that advances education and entrepreneurship. He served as Chief operations Officer for the Urban Entrepreneur Partnership Inc.

In addition to the KCU Board of Trustees, he is also a trustee of INTRUST Bank, and the University of Kansas Hospital Authority. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of Kansas State University’s Center of Advancement and Entrepreneurship.

Kevin and his wife Cheryl have four boys. Tyler (whose mom is Ms. Nicole Edwards), Sterling (Kansas State University), and twin boys Jordan and Jacob, both first-year students at Blue Valley High School in Leawood, Kansas.
