Jillian Owens married Raja Green at Trinity Episcopal Church in Tulsa on June 1. The officiants for the wedding were Rev. Dr. W. Lee Domenick and Rev. Dr. Jonathan Walton.
Owens is the daughter of Rev. Dr. Ray and Dr. Dion Owens of Tulsa. Rev. Owens is the pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church. Green is the son of Richard and Shea Green, and Nedivah Israel.
The wedding party also included the groom’s grandparents, Monica and Kelvin Gibbs, Terri and Wayde Walton, and Ruby and Nate Nelson. The maid of honor was Jordan Owens Sellers, the bride’s sister. The bridesmaids were Mariah Browns, Brooklyn Douglas, Kelsie Johnson, Angel Karloh, Lauryn Montgomery, Shayla Mosley, Rachel Owens, and Kaylee Wilson. The best man was Michael Doctor. The groomsmen were William Blakely, Krishawn Brown, Rhazjon Green, Gerrick Jackson, Isaiah Johnson, Trace Linn, Jalen Moses, Corion Palmer, Hayden Perona, and Marvin Taylor.
Additional members of the wedding were Casey Cantwell, organist; Matha Mattes, violinist; and Montrae Tisdale and the Friends Chorale, chorus and band.
Family and friends celebrated the couple at a wedding reception at the Tulsa Club Hotel.
The couple are graduates of the University of Oklahoma and Booker T. Washington High School. Owens received a bachelor’s degree in sociology/pre-law, and Green obtained a bachelor’s degree in management information systems.
This fall, Owens will continue her studies at Harvard Law School, focusing on advancing civil rights and social justice. Green is currently pursuing
a master’s degree in analytics at the Price College of Business at OU-Norman. He works as a data analyst for Devon Energy in Oklahoma City and recently completed six years as a specialist with the Oklahoma Army National Guard.
The couple plans for a honeymoon next summer.
