Mayor G.T. Bynum will host a news conference on Sept. 10, at 8 a.m. to mark the opening of Riverside Drive to traffic between 21 st and 41 st Streets. Joining him at the news conference will be U.S. Senator James Inhofe; Louisa Ward, Assistant Division Administrator for the Oklahoma Division of the Federal Highway Administration; and Jeff Stava, Executive Director of the Gathering Place.
The news conference will be held on the Midland Valley Trail Pedestrian Bridge over Riverside Drive. Parking is available in the lot at 31 st Street and Riverside. To get to the pedestrian bridge, cross 31 st Street and take the Gathering Place path north.
It is recommended to arrive at 7:45 a.m. The walk from the parking lot to the pedestrian bridge will be between 5 and 10 minutes.
This Riverside Drive project constructed in conjunction with Phase I of the Gathering Place has benefited from a $10 million TIGER (Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery) grant from the Federal Highway Administration, secured through the efforts of the Indian Nations Council of Governments (INCOG).
