It’s a sure shot to say that there are plenty of people who wouldn’t mind finding their ideal life companion. People are seeking & finding innovative ways to make a connection that just might turn into a spark. From the Millennials to the mature crowd, men & women across the globe are making their place in cyberspace.
With over 1000 sites and apps online, people across the globe are opting to access online dating sites to test the waters of true romance. But does anyone ever ask how that affects the culture of dating? Once upon a time, there were those who thought it not too horrid of an idea to actually court one another. Imparting their time through a series of romantic dates and outings that allowed them time to talk, share and get to know one another in an intimate space. These types of interactions had much influence on couples that often eventually led to marriage.
Today, the idea of courtship may as well be like asking someone to dial a rotary phone. Needless to say, picking up the phone or actually approaching someone face to face took confidence & finesse on one’s part. The anticipation and element of surprise grew from there. Not necessarily the protocol for a generation who can just swipe left to identify Mr. or Mrs Right. The new wave of dating pushes people toward sharing themselves in a broader space, much like casting a line into the water and seeing who will take a bite.
With single selections in the masses, so long as the series of up close and personal dates and say hi to a cup of Joe at the bookstore. What seemingly is presented as a convenient way to meet someone has evolved into just that. Whoever is convenient just may get your vote. Not sure what the probable outcome may be for the future, but it looks as if the newest norm is hooking up, cohabitating, and if you’re lucky enough to not have any children to fight over in custody court, you’ve won the battle just long enough to start the vicious cycle all over again.
On the other side of the coin, there are still many who find value in looking for love in a more traditional setting. This month there will be a conference and concert inspiring singles and couples to rekindle the fire. The event will be held in the heart of the city on April 21st from 10:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. at the Junior League of Tulsa where breakfast and lunch will be catered. Not a bad place to jumpstart your heart, or a friendly way to create an ideal date.
