Organizers of the Fifth Annual Black Wall Street History & Heritage Festival are seeking men, women, and children who would like to perform at the festival on February 3, 2018. The festival will be held at Lacy Park Community Center, 2134 North Madison Place, Tulsa, Okla. The event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The deadline to register is January 20, 2018. Past festivals have included fashion shows, dancers, local vendors, some with handmade items, drummers, and spoken word performances.
Theatre North will be performing August Wilson’s “Seven Guitars,” directed by Rodney Clark, at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, in the Liddy Doenges Theatre, 110 E. 2nd Street, at 8 p.m. on February 3, and 10 and 3 p.m. February 11. This tragi-comedy, is sixth in the author’s 10-part Pittsburg Cycle, exploring the black experience in America. Tickets are on sale now.
Freedom Train will be performed at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center (PAC) on Feb. 2 at 7 p.m., in the John H. Williams Theatre. This PAC presentation tells the story of Harriet Tubman, in a series of scenes that use dance, dialogue and music of the period. Tickets are on sale now.
