Julius Scott who was in the womb of his mother during the 1921 Tulsa Massacre recently succumbed. He was 96 and was preceded in death by his big sister Daisy Scott, who was a toddler during those dark days in May and June.
Uncle Julius, as many knew him, was featured in the highly acclaimed film “Hate Crimes in the Heartland,” which is available on Netflix and the Oprah Winfrey Channel. From May 31, through June 1, 1921, a white mob destroyed the African American community of Greenwood, along with its prosperous business district. During the Civil Rights Movement, the famed boulevard was renamed the Black Wall Street of America.
