A Free Event For The Community, June 3-7
Chautauqua 2025 is celebrating and recognizing “Anything Goes: America in the Roaring Twenties” at the Tulsa Historical Society and Museum, 2445 S. Peoria Ave., June 3-7.
Evening performances will bring characters to life in first-person portrayals, followed by question-and-answer sessions. The nightly performances, to be held under an outdoor tent, will begin at 7 p.m. The characters spotlighted will be five captivating figures:
Al Capone (Dr. Doug Mishler) was a notorious Prohibition-era gangster and a cultural icon.
Zane Grey (David Fenimore) was a Western novelist who defined frontier imagery.
Zitkala-Ša (Dr. Selene Phillips) was a Native American activist and storyteller.
Bessie Smith (Rebecca Marks Jimerson) was recognized as the “Empress of the Blues” and a cultural pioneer.
Mae West (Karen Vuranch) was a Hollywood trailblazer who challenged societal norms.
Additionally, free workshops will be held at noon and 5:30 p.m. during the week.
