Six-time Pro Bowler Terrell Owens wants in on Ice Cube’s 3-on-3 basketball league. The former NFL wide receiver told TMZ Sportsthat he had players trying to figure out how he could participate this summer.
Owens said they weren’t able to work it out and that he believes the only way he can make it happen is if he calls up Ice Cube himself. When asked what he would say to Cube if he could talk to him, Owens replied:
“Aye Cube, my football prowess, that speaks for itself, but if you ask around the BIG3 league and even outside of that, the guys know I can hoop. Let me come on. I like what you guys are doing. Let me come out there, man, and display some of my skills and play some of the vets, man. I think I would be one of those exceptions to the rule as far as guys that can play in that BIG 3-on-3.”
The thing is, the BIG3 is meant to be for retired NBA players, but I’d bet that Ice Cube will respond with a video of his own soon. Perhaps he can at least somehow include Owens, who played basketball in high school and college, in the shooting contest he’s supposed to have with LaVar Ball.
For now, Owens is playing in a new pro flag football league called the AFFL.

However, Owens would rather be playing basketball. He told USA TODAY Sports last month:
“If I had to choose between football and basketball, I’m taking that roundball all day,’’ said Owens, who played for the Dallas Cowboys and three other teams during a 15-year career in the NFL. “I probably would have had a longer career in basketball than I did in football. People don’t know that, but yes.’’
