The city of Tulsa will see an influx of pink and green as the nation’s oldest African American Greek-letter organization, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® convenes for its 93rd Mid- Western Regional Conference. Held at the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel and Convention Center, March 29-April 2, 2023, over 900 vibrant, college educated women of the illustrious sisterhood are expected to attend. The regional conference is an opportunity for sorority members to engage in educational workshops, career building and networking opportunities to increase leadership opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate members.

We will leave our Pink Print and a substantial financial impact all over the city of Tulsa,” says Mid-Western Regional Director, Anika Wilson Starling.
Under the conference theme, “Black Wall Street: Remembering the Past as a Pink Print for Our Future”, the event will be hosted by the region’s Cluster E chapters as they plan to showcase the rich history of Tulsa’s Black Wall Street.
The conference will kick off Thursday March 30th with a day party hosted by the Regional Director welcoming sorority members from Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Wyoming.
The sorority’s community outreach will commence on Thursday with a tree dedication at the University of Tulsa, as well as a toiletry drive for the young women housed at Flourish Homes, a 501(c)(3) organization that provides young women (ages 18-25) who have aged out of foster care, with guidance to lead a flourishing life. Other service-centered events will include voter registration and mobilization, as well as social justice activities.
A public program and reception Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. where awards will be presented to local leaders and organizations that have significantly impacted their communities. This event is free and open to the public.
Energy, passion, and momentum will fill the room as sorority and fraternity step teams take the stage for the annual step show competition on Friday March 31st at 8:30 p.m. Steppers from throughout the region will perform.
The conference will host their “Sequins and Sneakers” Ball from 8:00-11:30 p.m. on Saturday April 1st where the attire will match the theme. This will be a time of celebration, networking, and good ol’ fun. The sorority will close out the weekend on Sunday with an HBCU Gospel Breakfast and Ecumenical Service.
