Kansas State University extended an offer to Sterling Lockett, a two-sport stand-out, to be part of the Wildcat family where three of his family members excelled.
Sterling who is 5’10” and weighs 155lbs attends Blue Valley High School (6A) in Leawood, Kansas. He is not only an outstanding wide-receiver, but he is a superb baseball player as an outfielder.
He is the son of former K-State wide-receiver Kevin Lockett and brother to current Seattle Seahawk Tyler Lockett. He is also the nephew of former Kansas State speedster Aaron Lockett.
Emerging on the scene as a sophomore slot man for the Tigers last fall, Lockett was an honorable mention all-league performer with 535-yards receiving on 33 catches (16.2 YPC) with two scores.
Lockett has superb footwork and is looking to take a big jump as a junior alongside 2021 commitment Dorian Stephens and fellow 2022 offer Nick Herzog.
There is a proven track record at Kansas State with the Lockett family, undersized, and largely overlooked but tireless workers with impeccable character. It appears the Wildcats have seen enough from Sterling already to see the apple has not fallen far from the tree. Sterling has quick feet and is a great route runner with excellent hands and natural athletic ability that can’t be taught.
Sterling just finished several Triple AAA baseball tournaments and just recently attend the College Football Combine and the Kansas City Showcase in football.
Sterling’s grandfather, John Lockett, was asked how does he compare with the other three Locketts? “Improvement in some areas, I think Sterling has the ability to be an outstanding college prospect in football or baseball. I think he takes a little from all three former stars. He has Kevin’s speed and hands, Tyler’s feet and agility, and Aaron’s knowledge of the game and return abilities”.
Sterling has also talked with Iowa, Iowa State, and The University of Texas at El Paso so far.
