Fulton Street Books and Coffee opened its doors for the first time on Friday.
Fulton Street is located on West Latimer Street in Tulsa, and the owner Onikah Asamoa-Caesar said it is the only black-owned bookstore in Tulsa. She said Fulton Street is all about representation, literacy and community.
“I always say this is a place for people who have often felt like there was no space created for them. 70 percent of our books are at least written by of featuring black indigenous people of color. So we center the narrative the stories and the lived experiences of people of color in this country,” said Asamoa-Caesar.
The store has procedures to keep employees and customers healthy, including offering curbside pickup.
