Morton Comprehensive Health Services, a primary health care system serving northeastern Oklahoma, recognized Linda Berry for 50 years of service on Oct. 1 with a luncheon program.
Berry is currently a health information management specialist. When she started Oct. 1, 1969, the department used shorthand notes and typewriters for medical recordkeeping. Today, advancements in technology and the introduction of electronic medical records systems has made a difference in her work.
“What has kept me here is how Morton has provided a service for the community,” said Berry. “It has been a beacon of light…and I love what the clinic stands for.”
She says Morton has served so many patients over the years and believes this has been very important and has benefitted the community. Since Berry has been with Morton, it has offered a wide range of health and social services based upon the needs of the community.
“The (societal) climate has changed, the people have changed, but Morton is still maintaining its mission to serve the medically underserved,” said Berry.
Berry was at the original location of Morton at 603 E. Pine. She saw the additions of two new buildings – one for Dental and Pediatrics, and a second office for Obstetrics and Gynecology – to expand and increase Morton’s offerings to the community. She now is at its current location, 1334 N. Lansing, which is a nearly 60,000 sq. ft. facility, and she has seen the addition of four (4) new locations and a satellite clinic.
Berry has no plans to retire soon.
“Whatever I can do to help our patients enjoy their experiences with Morton, I will continue to do so,” said Berry.
