The Tulsa University men’s basketball team got off to a very slow a start against the Tulane Green Wave team that many would not have expected from a 4-22 opponent versus the 16-12 Golden Hurricane. Tulane jumped out to a 19-3 lead at the 11:54 mark of the first half and it looked like it was going to be a long night for the Golden Hurricane.
Junior forward Martins Igbanu began to go to work on the inside and helped the Golden Hurricane get within 10 at the 9:15 point in the first-half play. Igbanu finished the night with a good solid 19-point effort.
The late first half come back was led by TU junior guard from Edmond, Oklahoma #10 Scott Curran who’s hot shooting from beyond the three-point arc tied the Green Wave at the 31-31 at the 3:20 mark and the Golden Hurricane went into halftime down 1 point at 34-35.
The Golden Hurricane came out with a more balanced attack in the second half going up 42-39 at the 16:19 point in the second half, again led by the hot shooting of Curran Scott and never looked back. TU lead the way for the rest of the contest going up by as much as 12 points at the 4:09 point in the second half. Curran Scott finished with 19 points going 4-7 from beyond the three-point line. TU closes its home season out at home Sunday at 3 pm versus East Carolina University at the Reynolds Center in Tulsa.
