TALK OF GREENWOOD

American Bank of Oklahoma is hosting two homeownership and personal finance courses free to the public.

The first program is titled “Navigating Buying a Home: First-time Home Buyers’ Class.” It is scheduled for Sept. 19, 6 p.m. – 7 p.m., at Tulsa Tech Peoria Campus, 3850 N. Peoria Ave.

The workshop will feature a panel to discuss the mortgage industry, home inspection, insurance, how to make an offer on a home, and how to prepare for a mortgage application, and more.

The second program will feature the subject “Loan Readiness and Credit Repair Strategies.” The event is planned for Sept. 26, 6 p.m. – 7 p.m., at Tulsa Tech Peoria Campus, 3850 N. Peoria Ave.

The material in the workshop will include debt-to-income ratio and why it matters, down payment savings, what debts to pay off first to build credit, and which documents are important to provide to your mortgage professionals. The guest speaker for this session will be Brian Eck, director of broker relations for UQUAL, a home readiness company that provides expert coaching and powerful technology to help future homeowners to tackle the roadblocks in the way of loan approval.

Refreshments will be provided at both events.
