‘Healthy Brain Strategies Conference’ To Address Health Disparities
Alzheimer’s Diversity Outreach Services is inviting the community to attend its first Healthy Brain Strategies conference at Langston University-Tulsa, 914 N. Greenwood Ave., on Sept. 28. The theme is “Unraveling Our Genetic Tapestry,” emphasizing the importance of understanding the unique genetic makeup of the BIPOC population and its impact on health.
Additional topics to be discussed include identifying genetic factors that contribute to health disparities, exploring advancements in genetic research, and discussing strategies for promoting health equity, especially within African American communities.




The program will feature Vence L. Bonham Jr., acting deputy director of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) and head of the Health Disparities Unit in NHGRI’s Social and Behavioral Research Branch; Dr. Tiffany Crutcher, founder and executive director of the Terence Crutcher Foundation; Omare Jimmerson, executive director of Tulsa Birth Equity Initiative; Dr. Randall Shakir, program director of PEARLS and site coordinator for Integrated Behavioral Health at West Oakland Health; and Marcia Bruno-Todd, executive director at Leadership Tulsa.
