TALK OF GREENWOOD

‘Caribbean Carnival On The Green” Will Feature Music And Dance

Tulsa’s only Caribbean-inspired restaurant, Sisserou’s, is hosting a festival to recognize its 10th anniversary. “Caribbean Carnival on the Green” is scheduled to be held at Guthrie Green, 111 Reconciliation Way, on Aug. 3, 5 p.m. – 10 p.m.

“Get ready to experience a fusion of flavors, colors, and rhythms as we pay homage to a decade of culinary excellence and community spirit,” said organizers. Food trucks, offering a variety of options, and kid-centered activities are planned.

Attendees can expect “…all the island vibes with authentic live music, art, dancing, shimmering costumes and the finest Caribbean refreshments.”

“Being the first its kind in our great city, the Caribbean Carnival on the Green is poised to share a taste of West Indian culture while thanking the community for 10 years of love and support of Sisserou’s Restaurant,” said Ilana Velaquez, co-owner of Sisserou’s Restaurant, located at 107 N. Boulder Ave.

Featured artists include DJ Lion, Kipp Drumline, Gemstar Steel Pan Band, Soulbody, Cyphers, Sky Juice Kings, and Rohie Ryddim among others.

The event will also feature kid-focused programming, such as face painting, bubbles, dancing, interactive activities, and more.

Proceeds are to benefit A Pocket Full of Hope. The local organization provides programming for youth. It has served 5,200 students for 17 years. See https://apocketfullofhope.com/ for more information.
