The Greenwood Cultural Center is presenting accomplished musician OmaleyB on June 2, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. He will be performing at the Mabel B. Little Heritage House on the GCC campus, 322 N. Greenwood Ave.
The “Soulful Sounds on Greenwood: A Porch Performance” will highlight OmaleyB and other local artists. The program will be a tribute to the heritage and legacy of the historic Greenwood district.
OmaleyB is an accomplished multi-genre singer and musician. He has written music for R&B, soul, pop, and gospel musical categories. Additionally, he plays multiple instruments, including the piano, alto saxophone, drums, and the organ.
According to his bio, dynamic performer, OmaleyB has shared the stage with renowned artists and VIPs like Musiq Soulchild, Lakeside, Al Sharpton, Midnight Star, Le’Andria Johnson, PJ Morton, and Michael Bloomberg. His diverse musical journey continues to captivate audiences, marking OmaleyB as a rising star with a unique blend of soulful sounds.
The Mable B. Little Heritage House, located in the heart of the Greenwood business district, is an acknowledgement to Little, a local beautician and community activist. The home was originally built and owned by Sam and Lucy Mackey further north on Greenwood. It was one of the last standing residences on Greenwood and was relocated to its present location. It was dedicated to Little in 1986. The Mackeys and Littles were survivors of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.
Little and her husband, Presley, were instrumental in the rebuilding of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and the Greenwood area after the massacre.
