While in Seattle, the students will visit Virginia Mason Hospital/Kraken Community Ice Plex, the Seattle Seahawks 12 Headquarters, and The Keller Williams Real Estate Headquarters. One of the Tulsa Public School Employees that accompanied Diana Mercado (East Central High School) as a guardian, Ms. Brooke Randels, East Central High School, College and Career Readiness, stated that “Our students have been able to be exposed to many professionals and learn about all the opportunities there are professionally. Also, it has been amazing seeing their eyes being opened just to the world having the chance to travel to Seattle and see life lived differently that they know. This program is investing in them in a variety of ways”

This is the third year of Tyler’s “I Know I Can” Job Shadowing Program. In 2021, students did not travel because of CoVid-19. To compensate, Tyler awarded the twelve (12) 2021 students selected a ten-thousand-dollar ($10,000) scholarship to start their college life. The students that traveled to Seattle will receive a smaller scholarship, amount to be determined.

The Month of May has been extremely busy and rewarding for Tyler. In addition to his Job Shadowing Program, Tyler was selected Seattle Washington Male Sports Star of 2021, he won the Sports Emmy Award for his piece on the 1921 Race Massacre, and he was inducted into the Kansas State Ring of Honor.
