Oklahoma Democratic Party Chair Announces Candidacy For Re-Election

The Oklahoma Eagle Newswire

Alicia Andrews, Chair of the Oklahoma Democratic Party, announced Monday that she is running for re-election to the position. In her announcement, Andrews reflected on her accomplishments in her first year and a half helming the Party.

“When I was elected, we knew there was sizeable debt that we had to deal with. What none of us realized, though, was the size of the debt. Despite the challenges of COVID-19, we have successfully paid off over $135,000, leaving the Party debt-free.

“I promised Oklahoma Democrats to pay particular attention to our rural constituents. We have provided unique training opportunities for candidates from every county in Oklahoma. I’m proud of the way our leaders across the state are working together to strengthen the party. I believe that continuity of leadership is critical at this juncture. We have made many inroads, and I truly want to continue to lead the party to greater success,” Andrews said.

Officers, including the Chair, are elected for two-year terms at the annual state convention. The 2021 convention will be held the first week in June.
