Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are slated to make their first appearance together as running mates in the presidential election Wednesday afternoon.
Biden and Harris are speaking in Wilmington, Del. They are scheduled to begin at 3:50 p.m.
On Tuesday, Biden selected the California senator as his choice to be the Democratic vice presidential candidate. Harris becomes the first Black woman to be on a major party’s presidential ticket.
Biden, the former vice president, lives in Delaware, where he served as a U.S. senator for more than 30 years. The appearance will be streamed and also broadcast on cable news networks.
Pennsylvania Democrats applauded the choice of Harris as Biden’s running mate. Democrats said she could help energize voters as they seek to move Pennsylvania blue. In 2016, Donald Trump scored a narrow victory in the Keystone State, a key step to becoming America’s 45th president.
