The Alpha Xi Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. inducted three new members into its fold at the Rudisill Regional Library in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was organized on November 12, 1922 and for over 98 years have been focused on the development of quality communities, education of youth and adults and ensuring programs and projects that build character, humanity and a service driven attitude. The Chapter President is Alnetta Morris and the Membership Chairperson is Sharon Briggs.
The formal induction program included the introduction of Sigma members by the president, Alnetta Morris, welcome by Kaleb Logan, special presentation-Catrina Batts, Recognition of Divine Nine, introduction of new members by Vice President Sharon Briggs, Presentation of Gifts by Chaplain Mary P. Walker and Susanne Thompson and Final Blessings by Chaplain Mary P. Walker.
The theme for this new group is RHOsilient x3.
The new members are Cassandra Kemp, of Family and Children’s Services where she serves as a therapist. She currently holds a master’s degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma and is a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor; Camenae Patrick, of the US Army of Engineers, holds a master’s degree in Accounting. She has completed approximately 200 hours in community service within the past 12 months and Deshawna Todd of the Union School District, who presently holds a master’s degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma and is currently pursuing a 2nd Master’s Degree in Social Work.
The Alpha Xi Sigma Chapter was founded by the late Mrs. Anita Hairston, community activist and first African American graduate of the University of Tulsa with a master’s degree in Education.
