The 100 Black Men of America, Tulsa chapter, is hosting its annual Marvin Blades Golf Classic on July 13, 8 a.m.-3p.m., at the Bailey Ranch Golf Course, 10105 Larkin Bailey Blvd., in Owasso. The event raises funding for scholarships and student programming for the year.

The annual golf event invites the community to participate by signing up golf teams of four individuals. Individuals and companies can register in advance at www.100blackmentulsa.org/golf-1.

At the golf tournament, gift bags will be provided to all registered golfers and prizes will be given for the hole-in-one and other categories. Some prizes include autographed jerseys from NFL players Tyler Lockett and Felix Jones, a BBQ grill, workshop tools, free rounds of golf, Yeti mugs and golf balls among other prizes.

Marvin Blades, honored with the title of President Emeritus of 100 BMOT, was a gang unit officer of the Tulsa Police Department for more than 30 years and was a sergeant with the Tulsa Public Schools Campus Police after retiring from the TPD. With the TPD, Blades was a karate instructor with the Tulsa Police Athletic program. Blades passed away in 2016.
