What: Met Cares Foundation Presents: The Building Wakanda Summit 2.0

After more than a year of investing in building relationships, intentionally listening to the stories of our friends and neighbors and working to craft solutions to the issues facing the North Tulsa community, the Met Cares Foundation is proud and excited to announce the Building Wakanda Summit 2.0.
The event will take place tonight, Tuesday, May 21 from 5:30-8: 30 PM at the 36th Street North Event Center. Representatives from Tulsa Public Schools, the Tulsa Police Department, the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office and the mayor’s office are all expected to be present to hear from local artists and community members.
During the event, four sets of recommendations crafted by community-lead research teams will be presented around the areas of community policing, housing access, economic development and trauma in schools. Community members will have the chance to vote on which recommendation resonates with them the most in order to prioritize a community-lead agenda.
Each of the representatives from the institutions mentioned above will also be given the chance to respond to the recommendations on behalf of their organization (e.g. representatives from the mayor’s office will respond to recommendations on housing on behalf of Mayor Bynum and the City of Tulsa).
We believe deeply in the power of the community in driving positive change for North Tulsa and the city as a whole. We are hopeful that this night will build on the incredible work that many other leaders and organizations have been doing for years – and will collectively drive us all toward a more just and equitable Tulsa.
