Wichita State came to play on Wednesday night. The Shockers started out fast and never looked back at the TU Golden Hurricane played catch up basketball all night long. Wichita State jumped out to a 10-4 lead at the 15:08 point in the first half, as Tulsa struggled from the perimeter from the onset of the contest.
Tulsa standout DaQuan Jefferies got off to a slow start going 0-4 in the first half which saw TU trailing 42-28 at the midway point. The second half was much of the same story as Wichita State continued its hot outside game and began to dominate on the inside as well with 7’0 Asborn Midtgaard, 6’11 Jamie Echenique and 6’8 Markis McDuffle proved to be to much for the Tulsa inside game.
Wichita went up as much as 20 points in the second half with a consistent inside out game the final score was 81-60. Tulsa has to get it together for its final games of the season for any hope of an NIT bid. The Golden Hurricane face Temple Saturday at noon, which will be another tough game. Hopefully with a different outcome for Tulsa.
