Stephen was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Xenephone and Edna Works. He was married to Annie Taylor Works and has three sons Keenan Works (Carmen Scott Smoote) and twins Stephon Works and Stephen Works.

Works was preceded in death by his father Xenephone Works, Sr. Growing up he attended Vernon A.M.E. Church and graduated from Booker T. Washington Senior High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the mighty Hornet Class of 1981.

He attended Oklahoma Institute of Technology. Stephen worked for various companies on many drafting projects. Works is survived by his mother Edna Dennie works. His sisters Deborah Willis, Adonna Works-Minter, (Willard Minter), Anita Works, Ruth Andrea McNeal    (Anthony McNeal) and brother Xenophon Works, Jr. (Torey Rucker Works), and many nieces and nephews. Works also had a host of cousins and friends.

Homegoing Services for Stephen DuWayne Works are at Vernon A.M.E. Church in Tulsa Oklahoma at 311 N. Greenwood, at 1 pm on Friday, January 25th.
