Tulsa’s Akayleb Evans To Make Presentation At The 5th Annual Black Student-Athlete Summit

University of Tulsa sophomore football student-athlete Akayleb Evans, along with Assistant Athletics Director for Academic and Student Services Schnea Nealy, will make a presentation at the 5th Annual Black Student-Athlete Summit on the campus of the University of Texas, January 9-11.

The presentation is titled: Black Student-Athletes and Community Activism: The Power of Being More Than An Athlete. There will be a high volume of presentations at the summit and each oral presentation will be limited to 10 minutes with a 10-minute Q&A session with the audience afterwards.

Evans, an organizational studies major, completed his true sophomore season in November with the Golden Hurricane football team. In his two seasons, the 6’2” cornerback has played in 18 games with 11 starts and has totaled 47 career tackles and six pass break-ups.

Nealy is in her 18th year working in the academic and student services department at The University of Tulsa. She earned her bachelor’s degree in mass communication in 1997 and a master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology in 2000, both from Tulsa.
