Guthrie Green is hosting the second annual Tulsa Soul Festival, a free music festival honoring the late Wayman Tisdale, professional basketball player and jazz musician.
Tulsa’s Soul Festival is a music festival featuring a weekend of live soul and R&B funk, art, entertainment and soul-centric southern cuisine. In addition to providing soulful entertainment, the weekend will honor and pay tribute to the legacy of Wayman Tisdale by highlighting his Foundation’s mission and impact in the Tulsa community.
“We are excited to offer quality entertainment to the Tulsa community free of charge and we are happy that we were able to build on the success of last year’s event and again showcase national musical artists, but this time for two days” said Tony Moore, Executive Director of Guthrie Green. “This event will truly highlight the inclusive nature of Guthrie Green in bringing families and communities together”
The festival kicks off on Friday, Sept. 28 and continues on Saturday, Sept. 29. The festival hours are from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
“Soul Festival is all about celebrating love, peace and community,” said Heather Wimberly, Vice President of Operations at Guthrie Green. “Our hope is to continue to bring top-tier talent to Tulsa for families to enjoy great music, eat local food and make memories that last a lifetime.”
Southern-style food vendors will offer tasty treats for attendees, including Cajun Bowl, Give Back Shack, Jubilee, Reba Dales and Sweet Lisa, among others.
The festival acts are:
Friday, Sept. 28: Ms. Val, Charlie Redd and the Full Flava Kings, and Ready for the World
Saturday, Sept. 29: Faye Moffett will open for funk band Lakeside and Musiq Soulchild
