Committee Plans Events Celebrating the 60th OKC Sit-In Movement

The public is invited to attend the celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Sit-In Civil Rights Movement in Oklahoma City. The movement began when 13 children, under the leadership of the late Clara Luper, who protested segregation in public accommodations at Katz Drug Store in downtown Oklahoma City on August 19, 1958.

Participants of the Sit-In will be recognized at each scheduled event.

  • Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the Oklahoma History Center, 800 Nazih Zuhdi Dr., OKC (Program includes Ambassadors Choir, Reflecting on excerpts from the film, “ Through the Looking Glass Darkly “ with panelists, and the documentary “Remembering the Sit-In”)
