Magnolias Café is a modern Creole Breakfast/Lunch Café nestled in the heel of Tulsa’s business district in downtown Tulsa, 907 S. Detroit Ave, in the Sun Oil Building. The restaurant is sit-down New Orleans themed semi- relaxed café style establishment. The uniqueness of the restaurant is to offer weekday patrons the feel of a great timeless lunch spot appealing to individuals, business meetings, or corporate groups.
Magnolias owner, Avril Williams, is originally from New Orleans stated: “I got the love of cooking from my dad; he traveled and cooked from New Orleans to San Fransico, cooking has always been in our family.”
Williams is retired from the military and the Pentagon and arrived in Tulsa to support her husband who came to attend Rhema Bible School. Williams said, “I got this current location from attending the Route 66 entrepreneurial cooking program.”
The menu items is Ala Carte style with a prix fixe for groups of six or more to expedite service and enhance the flow of a meeting or event. Times for service are from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday with future expansion for brunch service on Saturdays and Sundays, with a brunch style menu from 10 a.m. — 3 p.m.
The décor is “all things New Orleans,” friendly, vibrant, and beaming with the flair of New Orleans hospitality and charm. The music is traditionally New Orleans brass band, with second-line toned weekday vibe, and it will be brass-band and jazz for Saturday and Sunday brunch. The atmosphere will transport you to the French Quakers of New Orleans, with the refinement and charm of patio dining brought indoors.
The gumbo at Magnolias is awesome, as well as all the other menu items. Make sure you stop by and sample this awesome creole menu when you’re in the downtown Tulsa area.
