The Greenwood Cultural Center (GCC) is honored to be the recipient of a $10,000 grant from the Cherokee Nation. The grant will support GCC’s annual “Young Entrepreneurs” Summer Program. The generous donation will further GCC’s efforts to provide fun, educational and inspiring summer activities during the summer months that promote self-awareness and pride while learning the basics of young entrepreneurship. The award-winning program serves 100 children each year and includes artists such as Dawn Tree, visual artist and Yusuf Etudaiye, pottery artist.
The ceremonial presentation by Councilor Buel Anglen will be held on Wednesday, July 11th at 9:00 a.m. at the McLain 7th Grade Academy, located at 525 E. 46th Street North in Tulsa where GCC also offers a literacy-based program, the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools Program.
GCC is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to preserve African-American heritage and promote positive images of the African-American community by providing educational and cultural experiences; promoting intercultural exchange; and encouraging cultural tourism.
