TULSA, Okla. – November 30, 2017: The North Tulsa Economic Development Initiative (NTEDi) will be hosting its 10th Annual symposium entitled “The Power of Community” on Saturday, December 2, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and will take place at Tulsa Community College Northeast Campus, 3727 E. Apache Street. Our leading partners for this event is American Heritage Bank and Sodexo.
The NTEDi symposium celebrates ten years of the organization’s commitment to rebuilding North Tulsa “one project at a time.” It is about sharing information, providing resources and building community to make a positive difference for North Tulsa.
A panel discussion entitled “Building Healthy Communities – The Power of Ownership” will feature Rose Washington Rentie of Tulsa Economic Development Corporation (TEDC); Mickey Wilburn, Senior Vice President, American Heritage Bank; City of Tulsa Representative; and Jack Henderson, NTEDi representative and former city councilor;.
Keynote speaker for the symposium will be Keynote Speaker – Dr. Deborah Gist – Superintendent of Tulsa Public Schools who joined Tulsa Public Schools July 2015. Dr. Gist has served as an educator, school system leader, public sector manager and a public policy analyst for more than 29 years. She started her career in education as an elementary school teacher for several years, eventually moving into administration.
Also in attendance will be Mike Neal, CEO/President of Tulsa Regional Chamber; Eunice Tarver, Tulsa Community College Provost for Northeast Campus; Jerry Goodwin, Tulsa Community College Assistant Professor, Journalism and Mass Communication; Rose Washington, Executive Director Tulsa Economic Development Corporation; Mickey Wilburn, American Heritage Bank Senior Vice President, Matthew Letzig, Tulsa Housing Authority Chief Operating Officer; representatives of 100 Black Men of Tulsa and other resource agencies. There will also be information provided from professionals in the field related to marketing; housing/home ownership; business; education, workforce and healthy communities.
