Langston University-Tulsa put on a Veterans Appreciation and resource fair Friday November 3rd as a way to show appreciation to veterans. The program consisted of communication about various VA topics including VA issues & VA benefits. Panelist included veterans such as Katrina Fisher, John Cloud, and former LU students Jaron Shaw, and Jerry Fennell.

Veterans were able to ask questions and obtain answers from the panelist regarding their concerns as veterans and obtain information needed to receive additional resources. Several Veteran organizations were also in attendance and set up booths to educate veterans regarding resources available. Organizations such as: The OK Department of Veteran Affairs, Coffee bunkers, Department of Rehabilitation Services, and Hooves on the Ground came out to share information with veterans. The veterans were served dinner and had the opportunity to tour the facility and visit with community vendors & Veteran organizations.

Langston-Tulsa’s Admissions Coordinator & Recruiter Jasmine Billingsley collaborated with Dr. Art Williams (Longtime LU professor) in an effort to put on the event. Dr. Williams says “ We wanted to make sure we let the veterans know we appreciate them and welcome them home.”  Billingsley also stated, “We plan to make this an annual event and appreciate the support as we move forward and continue to do more in our community.”
