The Oklahoma Primary Care Authority has selected Eugene Harris, vice chair of the board of directors for Morton Comprehensive Health Services, as “Board Member of the Year”.
“Morton is fortunate to have Mr. Harris. His commitment to Morton and the patients we serve has been tireless,” said Susan Savage, CEO at Morton, in her letter to the OKPCA selection committee.
Harris, a manager of employee development for ONE Gas, was recognized for his long-standing commitment to Morton and for his leadership roles with the board. He has been a member of the board since 1996. Harris’ father, Eugene Harris Sr., served as executive director of Moton Health Center in 1968 for 10 years.
Because of Harris’ efforts, Morton received a donation of a CNG Slow Fill Station from ONE Gas. The station is to support a CNG 14-passenger van from a grant from INCOG. The van is providing transportation to Morton’s patients for their medical appointments.
He also facilitated a One Gas sponsorship of an Extended DISC/Emotional Intelligence workshop, a human relations program, for Morton’s board members and executive staff this year. Moreover, he participates in his company’s employee charitable nonprofit Matching Grant program with Morton as his beneficiary.
In addition to his board service at Morton, he serves with the University of Oklahoma/Oklahoma State University Executive Education Partnership Program Advisory Board, and the Southern Gas Association Learning and Development Committee. Past board affiliations include the YMCA of Greater Tulsa and LIFE Senior Services.
He has been affiliated with Oklahoma Natural Gas/ONEOK/ONE Gas for 34 years.
