Tyler Lockett spends birthday week by giving back to the community

With so much talk surrounding what NFL players are or aren’t actively doing in the community right now, it seems like a great time to highlight the fact that many of them are in fact quite charitable. We know about Russell Wilson’s relationship with Seattle Children’s, Cliff Avril’s Haiti project, Michael Bennett’s work in Hawaii, Pete Carroll leading the way in giving back to most any community he strolls through, but of course they aren’t alone.

This week, it was Tyler Lockett who drew some headlines for his charitable work.

Lockett made an appearance at White Center Heights Elementary in Seattle, unveiling a new playground for their Head Start program, thanks to a $15,000 grant from UnitedHealthcare to Lockett’s Dreambuilders Foundation. Dreambuilders is described as: “a nonprofit organization that works with pro athletes across the country to help financially, physically and mentally-challenged kids receive the items, opportunities and equipment they need to reach their dreams.”

Lockett said he wants to help kids “enjoy their childhood.”

Additionally, Lockett was on hand at the Seahawks facilities this week to meet and greet Ayden, a 14-year-old who has endured a difficult childhood that included surgery when he was one, three years on dialysis, and a recent battle with cancer which is thankfully in remission.
