The area’s business association will rebrand the district by Nov. 1

VOTE NOW: Which proposed name for the Brady Arts District do you like?

The list of possible new names for the Brady Arts District has been narrowed to three.

Members of the Brady Arts District Business Association voted Wednesday to give final consideration to the names:

• Bridge Arts District

• NoDo Arts District

• Boomtown Arts District

Bob Fleischman, president of the association, said the group is on track to make a final decision by Nov. 1.

“By Nov. 1, everything should be in place, with new logos and marketing,” he said.

The private process to rebrand the district included consideration of possible names suggested by the public, he said. An invitation was put out through social media for suggestions from outside the association.

“We had public input, as well,” Fleischman said. “Every name that the public submitted was considered.”

Fleischman explained that the “Bridge” name reflects the fact that visitors must pass over or under a bridge from almost any direction to get into the district.

“Also, metaphorically, we are striving to bridge relationships with other parts of Tulsa,” he said.

“NoDo” refers to the district’s location north of downtown.

And “Boomtown” is a nod to the city’s historical relationship to the oil business.

Fleischman said an announcement will be made after the business association holds its final vote on a new name.

“We’re not interested in making a big deal out of this,” he said.

Fleischman had said previously that the district would not be renamed for a person.
