Voters’ Guide for September 12, 2017 Special Election

TULSA— The League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Tulsa has worked diligently to put together a Voters’ Guide about the candidates running for election in the September 12, 2017 Special Election to fill the Oklahoma Senate District 37 formerly held by Sen. Dan Newberry.   The League’s mission is to encourage informed and active participation in government works, to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influence public policy through education and advocacy.  The Voters’ Guide is just one way the League fulfills this mission.

Tulsa League members along with City Councilor Vanessa Hall Harper and Representative Jeannie McDaniel met with visitors hosted by Tulsa Global Alliance to discuss how our democracy works. The guests asked some very insightful questions.

This on-line Voters’ Guide allows voters to compare the various candidates running for a particular office. The League invited all of the candidates who had filed for the Senate District 37 Special election to participate.  The Voters’ Guide is a voluntary so candidates are able to choose whether or not they wish to participate.

 

An online version of the Voters’ Guide is available now via http://www.vote411.org.

 

Mandy Winton stated, “Providing relevant information to the voters in order about the candidates running for the Senate District 37 election is a way the League can assist the voters in making informed decisions at the polls.   The candidates’ responses are unedited by the League so will truly reflect the candidates voices.   We urge voters to make use of this unique resource.”

  • The deadline to submit a request for an absentee ballot for the September 12th election is 5 p.m. on September 6, 2017

 

  • Early voting for the September 12th election will be Thursday, Sept. 7 and Friday, Sept. 8 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tulsa County Election Board 555 N. Denver

 

  • *ELECTION DAY VOTING IS ONLY AVAILABLE AT YOUR PRECINCT POLLING PLACE FROM 7 A.M. TO 7 P.M.*
