The Anita Hairston Scholarship Fund was established in 1996 to honor the civic and educational achievements of Anita Hairston.  Soror Hairston was the founder of the Alpha Xi Sigma Chapter in Tulsa in 1945 and was the first African American graduate with a Masters of Education from the University of Tulsa.  A founding member of the Tulsa Links, active member of the Tulsa Urban League and many other organizations she stayed true to the mantra of educating and being educated when the forces of the Tulsa community prohibited her from pursing her passion. A true educator.
