Boynton, who joined the Oklahoma State last season, spent the previous three years on Underwood’s staff at Stephen F. Austin, where they helped the Lumberjacks to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances.
A South Carolina graduate, Boynton was a four-year player for the Gamecocks from 2001-04, appearing in 125 games and helping the Gamecocks reach the NCAA Tournament as a senior.
He started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Furman, then spent three seasons as an assistant at Coastal Carolina and one year at Wofford before returning to his alma mater as an assistant coach from 2008-13.
