Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Ca.) took a glorious stroll down memory lane on Twitter this International Women’s Day.
The congresswoman posted a powerful throwback photo at the 1977 National Women’s Conference in Houston. In the photo, Waters stands next to the late Coretta Scott King and other women of color as King addresses the conference attendees.

At the conference, King helped win support for a resolution that declared minority women faced discrimination based on both race and gender. The resolution called for support of affirmative action, a guarantee of tribal rights and the prevention of deportation of mothers of American-born children.
Waters’ post is an apt reminder that the fight for women’s rights needs to be inclusive of all women.
